Abstract
The article reflects on the experience of the Zhelezka Mobile School – the train journey through Central Asia. The text consists of two parts. The first is related to my interests as an art researcher. It presents my “traveling museum in a suitcase”, made of photos, books, postcards, crafts, maps, and other materials collected in every city visited on the trip; as well as the remarkable exhibition of dissident Soviet avant-garde art in the Nukus Savitsky Karakalpak Museum of Art. The second part reflects on the capacity of the Central Asian railway infrastructure along our route and offers policy recommendations for its improvement.
